    Description

    Pokemon Wave Blue is a Pokemon FireRed ROM Hack based on the decomp pokefirered-expansion maintained by Cawtds.

    The goal of this ROM hack is to modernize some features and add quality of life changes as well as present some real challenges when facing the Gym Leaders, Rival, Giovanni and Elite Four — they will now use the same resources that you can use (held items, IVs, EVs and optimized Natures).

    Features

    • Toggle Run On/Off by pressing B. You no longer need Running Shoes and don’t need to hold B to keep running anymore;
    • Toggleable Level Cap (enable or disable it by holding L and pressing Start);
    • Physical / Special split (PSS);
    • Fairy type;
    • Expanded TMs focused on making better use of the PSS as well as introducing more Fairy, Dark and Steel moves to the game — TM10 (Hidden Power) no longer requires Pickup to be obtained;
    • Movesets, abilities and moves were updated to the latest Gen it was available for them;
    • Hail changed to Snow (with Defense boost to Ice-types) and Freeze to Frostbite;
    • TMs are reusable and HMs can be forgotten;
    • TMs are no longer purchasable, with the exception of new TMs sold on One Island;
    • Shortened the animation from using HMs;
    • Cut, Strength, Flash and Rock Smash were buffed to be useful in combat (see below);
    • Expanded Kanto Pokédex — all evolutions and preevolutions of Kantonian Pokémon are available with some twists: Meowth may evolve into Perrserker, Mr. Mime can evolve into Mr. Rime and Farfetch’d can evolve to Sirfetch’d;
    • Trade evolutions were replaced by other methods (see below);
    • List of items expanded up to Gen 9 (including Nature Mints);
    • Exp. Share working as modern generations, if you have the item on your inventory and toggle it ON, all Pokémon in your party will receive XP;
    • Escape Rope is now a Key Item;
    • Infinite Repel: a new item. While it is active, no encounters will happen (inspired by an identical mechanic in Luminescent Platinum);
    • Pokémon Box Link available to allow the player to manage their team anywhere (sending a Pokémon to a box no longer heals it);
    • Oak’s Aides will give items no matter how many Pokémon you caught;
    • Trees and Rocks removed by Cut/Rock Smash are now removed permanently;
    • No Megaevolutions, Dynamax or Z-Moves;
    • An NPC focused on Hyper Training (Route 22) — requires Bottle Cap or Gold Bottle Cap;
    • An NPC focused on EV resetting (Lavender Town);
    • Battle against Oak (good luck!);
    • All Pokémon in the Kanto Pokédex are available (even Mew);
    • Aurora Ticket and Mystic Ticket can be obtained;
    • Full decapitalization;
    • Instant Text Speed;
    • Bag access is disabled during Trainer Battles;
    • Proper Title Screen in line with the original games (FireRed and LeafGreen);
    • Improved some map’s layout especially in Pewter, Cerulean and Fuchsia;
    • Gym Battles are now 3v3 Single Battles;
    • Day/Night and Seasonal cycles (purely visual changes);
    • IVs & EVs displayed directly on the Summary Screen;
    • Held Items restored after battle (Gen 9 mechanic) — only Berries are permanently consumed.

    Known Issue:

    The game will crash when teaching TM100 (Dual Wingbeat) to a Pokémon. Have no idea why, but I’m looking for a solution
