    Description

Pokemon Randolocke is a fan-made, Nuzlocke-oriented ROM hack of Pokemon Emerald that introduces randomized elements to enhance difficulty and replayability. It draws inspiration from the custom ROM hack used in the Nuzlocke Invitational Tournament hosted by popular creators PChal and Pointcrow. Designed specifically for Nuzlocke challenges, this hack features randomized wild encounters, trainer battles, items, and more—ensuring a fresh and unpredictable experience every time you play. Whether you’re a seasoned Nuzlocker or a newcomer looking for a unique twist on classic Pokemon gameplay, this hack offers both challenge and variety rooted in competitive community tradition.

    Features & Key Changes

    General Randomization Features

    • Every Pokemon up to and including gen 9.
    • Every wild Pokemon, Trainer’s Pokemon and gift Pokemon is randomized to a Pokemon with similar BST. Starters and gift Pokemon are guaranteed to have 3 perfect IVs.
    • Every ability is randomized (except Shedinja’s).
    • Every move (including TMs but excluding HMs) is randomized.
    • Every item found in the field or obtained as a gift has been randomized.
    • Every Tutor move has been randomized.

    Battle Features

    • Every Pokemon learns 21 moves at the same levels: 7 STAB moves, 7 non-damaging moves and 7 damaging moves.
    • All Pokemon can learn every move.
    • There are hard level caps in place between every badge:
      • 0 badges earned: 14
      • 1 badges earned: 21
      • 2 badges earned: 24
      • 3 badges earned: 29
      • 4 badges earned: 36
      • 5 badges earned: 43
      • 6 badges earned: 47
      • 7 badges earned: 50
      • 8 badges earned: 63
    • Elite Four defeated: 100
    • All trainers’ Pokemon have been scaled up and adjusted to the level caps.
    • The opponents’ AI has been upgraded to make them more of a challenge.

    Quality of Life Features

    • To use HMs out of battle, you don’t need to have a Pokemon that knows the move in the party.
    • HMs can now be forgotten, just like normal moves.
    • Each Pokemons’ IVs can be seen in the summary screen.
    • The bag size has been slightly expanded.
    • Added some Quality of Life Key Items:
      • An (infinite) Repellant
      • A Porta Heal
      • An Endless Candy (levels a Pokemon by 1)
      • A Cap Candy (levels a Pokemon up to the next level cap, the next level the Pokemon learns a move, the next level the Pokemon evolves or by 1 of the Pokemon evolves via an item)

    Map Changes

    • The Old Rod sailor has been moved to Route 103 to enable fishing earlier.
    • Scorched Slab has been populated with Pokemon.
    • Added Water to Littleroot Town and Grass to Oldale Town.
    • To make sure all Pokemon can evolve, several new areas and events have been added:
      • The Lilycove Dept. Store now has two new sellers. Between them, they sell all evolution items (except for Scroll of Darkness and Scroll of Waters — see below).
      • The Scroll of Darkness and Scroll of Waters can be obtained from the white rock in Mossdeep City (finally it’s useful).
      • A Tutor Mansion has been added to Lilycove City where you can teach your Pokemon any move that is needed for an evolution.
      • A new event has been added to Route 123, giving you the option to fight three Bisharps with Leader’s Crest so that Bisharp can evolve.
      • In Fallarbor town, you are gifted a Remoraid so that Mantyke can evolve.
      • In Verdanturf Town, two new trades have been added so that Shelmet and Karrablast can evolve.
      • In Mauville Game Corner, an NPC gives you 999 Gimmighoul Coins so that Ghimmighoul can evolve.
      • In Route 111 in the desert, a statue has been added so that Galarian Yamask can evolve under the right circumstances (this feature is untested).

Unavailable Features in this Rom Hack

    • Mega Evolutions
    • Primal Reversions
    • Dynamax Forms
    • Gigantamax Forms
    • Tera Forms
    • Fusion Forms
    • Z Moves

    What’s new – Changelog v1.1

    Bug Fixes

    • Fixed some opponents’ moves not being randomized sometimes (e.g. Gym Leaders).
    • Fixed TMs so that they are not being randomized if you turn off the game and turn it back on again.
    • Fixed the bug where sometimes Pokémon learn a move called “-” and does nothing. (Requires New Game)
    • Fixed the bug where a couple Pokémon try to learn Struggle. (Requires New Game)
    • Fixed a bug where in the tutorial Wally catches his first Pokemon, but sometimes Ralts can kill Zigazgoon, resulting in a game crash. (Requires New Game)
    • Changed Zweilous’s evolution level to 63 so that it can evolve before the Elite Four.
    • Removed the restriction on Dark Void and now every Pokemon can use it and not just Darkrai.

    New Features

    • Added an NPC in Oldale Town that will gift you 999 Ultra Balls whenever you talk to them
    • Added an NPC in Oldale Town that will gift you $999,999 whenever you talk to them.
    • Moderately increased wild Pokemon catch rates.
    • Added an NPC in Slateport City (to the right ferry building, appearing only after Rayquaza sends Kyogre and Groudon away in Sootopolis City) that sells maps to the following legendary Pokemons’ locations. They are all randomized as expected. (Requires New Game)
      • Latios and Latias.
      • Mew.
      • Deoxys.
      • Ho-oh and Lugia.
    • The following legendary Pokemon are now available after Rayquaza sends Kyogre and Groudon away in Sootopolis City (i.e. right before Gym 8). They are all randomized as expected. (Requires New Game)
      • Regirock, Registeel and Regice (their caves are unlocked).
      • Kyogre and Groudon (the Weather Institute abnormal events are activated).

Optional Features added in the Options Menu

    • Added the option to not randomize Pokemons’ abilities.
    • Added the option to not randomize Pokemons’ move sets. They won’t forget the moves they’ve already learned, but new moves will be based on the original move set if this is enabled.
    • Changed the way moves are learned so that moves with higher Base Power are learned later. This now becomes the “default” mode with the previous mode of completely random moves being made optional.
    • Added the option to enforce nicknaming new Pokemon.
    • Added the option to implement Nuzlocke Wild Encounters. This makes it so that if you catch a Pokemon on a location, you won’t be allowed to catch another Pokemon on the same location. Some testing is required in locations with many sub-locations (e.g. Magma Hideout or other places with many floors). (Requires New Game)
    • Add the option to disable the bag during trainer battles.
    • Add the option to make it so that Porta Heal does not revive fainted Pokemon. This now becomes the “default” mode with the previous mode being made optional.

    Improved Features

    • Pressing R to throw a ball.
    • Species randomization is a fixed mapping from species -> species (i.e. all Zigzagoons become Blazikens), but it works per Porymap slot, which is why sometimes you’ll find many Pokemon on a route that you’d expect to find fewer. This is to get around the fact that Hoenn only has 386 Pokemon but I wanted you to be able to catch from all 9 Generations, which requires more slots to accommodate the newer Pokemon.
